KUWAIT CITY, Aug 2: A Kuwaiti fashion influencer (ZA)has been sentenced to one year in prison and fined BD200 after being found guilty of sharing indecent videos on social media, according to a statement from the Public Prosecution.
The Minor Criminal Court delivered its verdict in person, ordering the confiscation of the influencer’s mobile phones and ruling that she be permanently deported upon completion of her sentence.
The case surfaced after the Cybercrime Directorate at the Ministry of Interior filed a report highlighting a publicly accessible social media account that featured videos of the woman in suggestive and inappropriate poses. Prosecutors argued that the content violated public decency laws and clashed with Kuwait’s cultural norms.
A warrant was issued for her arrest, and investigators later detained her. During questioning, the woman admitted the footage was hers. Her phone was confiscated as evidence, and she remained in custody throughout the investigation until the court delivered its final ruling.
