Kuwaiti convicted of child porn – Wanted list based on a US court ruling

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The International Criminal Police Department (INTERPOL) has added the name and picture of a 28-year-old Kuwaiti citizen to the internationally wanted list based on a US court ruling that convicted him of being involved in child pornography.

According to an informed source, the Kuwait Interpol Office was notified by its international counterpart regarding the need to arrest the citizen, as he is wanted by the American judicial authorities. Investigations are underway to determine whether or not he is in the country in preparation for taking necessary measures in accordance with the international agreements signed by the country, including the security cooperation agreement signed with the INTERPOL.

The source explained that the arrest warrant for the wanted Kuwaiti citizen was issued after he was convicted of two crimes in the United States of America, the first for “receiving and distributing child pornography” and second of “possession of child pornography” as well as two “kiddy porn” charges, all of which are punishable by the American Penal Code, as it affirms the need to protect children from any kind of exploitation.

Customs on alert: Director General of Customs Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi has issued a circular to all land, sea and air ports to tighten customs procedures and security controls on passengers and goods entering the country, reports Al Rai daily. Al-Jalawi stressed the need to raise the level of readiness and take all precautionary and preventive measures in customs inspection procedures. He pointed to the importance of using modern customs inspection devices and equipment of the Customs Impact Unit (police dogs) to support the human element in confronting threats. Measures have been implemented in the wake of the delicate Arab and regional situation characterized by lack of stability in some areas, spread of terrorism, violence, extremism and advanced smuggling methods, in addition to terrorist threats against the Arab region.

Citizen’s car vandalized: An unknown individual poured a chemical substance on a Kuwaiti citizen’s vehicle in Maidan Hawally area thereby damaging the body of the vehicle, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, the citizen informed securitymen that he saw the suspect pouring a chemical substance on his vehicle which was parked near his building in Maidan Hawally area. When he shouted at the suspect to stop, the latter fled away in a car. The citizen managed to note down the number plate of the vehicle, which he gave to securitymen. Using the details provided by the citizen, securitymen launched investigations to find and arrest the suspect.
