KUWAIT CITY, July 7: The Kuwaiti athletics team continues to make their mark at the Arab Games in Algeria, securing yet another medal on Thursday. With the latest bronze, their medal tally now stands at four (two silver and two bronze).
Abdul Rahman Al-Azmi, a standout athlete from the Kuwaiti team, delivered an impressive performance in the javelin throwing final at Oran's Miloud Haffi Stadium. Al-Azmi achieved a remarkable throw of 70.83 meters, securing third place and earning a well-deserved bronze medal.
In the mixed doubles badminton competition, Abdelhadi Mohamed and Fatima Dahham advanced to the third round after a thrilling victory over the Tunisian national team. The intense match took place at the sports hall in Ain Al-Bunyan, located west of the capital.
It is worth noting that the Kuwaiti team made a strong entrance into the competition on Wednesday, clinching three medals in the athletics events. Yaqoub Al-Youha and Issa Al-Zankawi secured silver medals, while Madawi Al-Shammari claimed a bronze medal in running.
With 32 male and female athletes representing six different sports, Kuwait is proudly participating in the 15th edition of the Arab Games hosted by Algeria. Having previously participated in 11 editions, Kuwait has amassed a total of 89 medals (20 gold, 23 silver, and 46 bronze), achieving a notable seventh place out of 21 participating countries in the most recent edition held in Qatar in 2011.
