KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22: The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti man and his girlfriend of robbing a taxi driver by dispossessing him of his wallet and identification documents, says Al-Seyassah.

The Public Prosecution Department charged the duo for allegedly stealing the wallet containing bank cards and civil ID card of the plaintiff while they fled the scene after attacking him physically while he was driving the taxi.

The victim said he was driving in Salwa when the suspects suddenly alighted from a car to attack him with a knife. They ordered him to alight from his car.

Lawyer Abdul-Mohsen Al- Qattan argued that allegation against his clients could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt, especially that the victim provided inconsistent statements. He declared that his clients denied the allegation from the inception and police investigation did not contain any substantial proof against them.
