CASABLANCA, April 29: The Kuwaiti youth handball team is poised to face off against the Moroccan national team in the final of the sixth Arab Youth Championship, set to conclude in Casablanca, Morocco. Preceding the showdown, a match to determine third and fourth place will take place between Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, scheduled for 6:00 pm.
Kuwait secured its spot in the Arab final with a thrilling victory over Saudi Arabia, clinching a narrow 30-29 win. The team's standout player, Abdulaziz Al-Najjar, was honored as the best player of the match. Meanwhile, Morocco emerged victorious against Tunisia in the same round, sealing its spot in the final with a score of 22-20.
Today's final sets the stage for a rematch of the tournament opener, where Kuwait triumphed over Morocco on its home turf before drawing with Tunisia and suffering a loss to Saudi Arabia. Notably, the Algerian team withdrew from the tournament, thus avoiding a clash with Kuwait.
Qayed Al-Adwani, Secretary General of the Handball Federation and head of the national team delegation in the Sixth Arab Youth Championship commended the stars for their qualification to the tournament final. He emphasized the team's calm and focused approach throughout the championship, praising the exceptional performance that led them to the semi-final victory. Al-Adwani expressed confidence in the Kuwaiti stars' ability to claim the title and reaffirmed Kuwait's standing in the Arab handball community.
