Kuwaiti players hold their final training session before departing for the Asian Youth Championship in Jordan.

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: Kuwait youth handball team departs for Amman, Jordan, to compete in the Asian Youth Championship, also known as the "World Cup Qualifiers," scheduled from the 14th to the 25th of this month. The team joins Group Two of the Asian tournament, facing China at 5:15 pm next Sunday and Iran at noon the following day.

Recently, the team concluded a productive external training camp in Slovenia to prepare for the tournament. During the camp, the team engaged in eight friendly matches against teams from Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, and Montenegro. Coach Saeed Hegazy and his staff focused on refining technical, tactical, and mental aspects ahead of the official Asian competitions.

Abdulaziz Al Zaabi, director of the youth handball team, praised the Slovenian camp for its effectiveness in enhancing player performance. He emphasized, "The coaching staff implemented various strategies in offense and defense, while also enhancing physical conditioning." Al Zaabi highlighted the players' cooperation and adherence to the coaching staff's instructions during the camp, aiming for a strong start in the Asian Championship.

He further noted the camp's success in preventing injuries, allowing the coach flexibility in selecting the squad for the upcoming matches. Al-Zaabi concluded by expressing the Handball Association's aspiration to qualify the team for the 2025 World Cup finals, underscoring the collective ambition of players, coaches, and administrators amid Kuwaiti handball's resurgence.
