Storms, dust and winds to linger until Wednesday
Kuwait Meteorology Department warns of dust, poor visibility amid 'Sarayat' season.

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: The acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali says the chances of thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in some areas, accompanied by periods of reduced visibility due to dust cover until Wednesday. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali explained that this period, locally known as “Sarayat” is a transitional season often marked by rapid weather changes and atmospheric instability. The rainfall will be accompanied by active winds, which may reduce horizontal visibility in some areas to less than 1,000 meters.

Weather maps indicate the country is under the influence of a surface low-pressure system, accompanied by a relatively hot and humid air mass. This is expected to result in increasing amounts of low- and midlevel clouds, occasionally interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds, bringing chances of scattered showers and strong winds. Al-Ali advised motorists, particularly those traveling on highways and desert roads, to exercise caution due to poor visibility. He also warned sea-goers of wave heights exceeding six feet. He urged citizens and residents to stay updated on weather conditions by following the official website of the Meteorological Department, its mobile app, and social media platforms
