President of Kuwait Civil Aviation Directorate Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Sabah with British Transport Secretary Chris Grayling after signing the deal for air services agreement

LONDON, July 24, (KUNA): Kuwait and Britain signed in London Tuesday an agreement that would organize air services between the two countries. This agreement is very important for Britain which is getting ready to leave the European Union (EU), British Transport Secretary Chris Grayling told KUNA after signing the deal with Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait Civil Aviation Directorate.Grayling said the agreement stipulated provision of facilities for airlines of the two countries, as well as cementing security and safety measures of commercial flights.Emad Al-Jluwi, Deputy Director General for airline safety at Civil Aviation Directorate, said the agreement aimed at exchanging transportation rights.Speaking to KUNA, he said the agreement would allow private airlines to fl y between Kuwait and Britain, providing they were officially registered.The deal, added Al-Jluwi, encouraged international airlines to increase flights to Kuwait International Airport, as well as contributed to facilitating movement of passengers and cargo, as well as linking Kuwait airport with the largest number of airports around the world.This agreement, he said, would promote bilateral trade, off er a variety of services for passengers, as well as exempting national carriers from custom duties.
