KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The Kuwait U-17 l volleyball team departed today for Cairo, Egypt, to launch a two-week training camp as part of its preparations for the 17th Arab Championship, which will be held in Amman, Jordan, from August 14 to 26. The team is scheduled to play six friendly matches during the camp to build form and cohesion.
According to the tournament draw, Kuwait has been placed in Group B. The team kicks off its campaign against Palestine on August 16, then faces Bahrain on August 17, Saudi Arabia on August 18, and wraps up the group stage against Iraq on August 20.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. In that round, the Group A winner will meet the fourth-placed team from Group B, while the Group B winner will take on the fourth-placed team from Group A. Second- and third-placed teams within each group will also face each other.
Winners of the quarterfinals will progress to the semifinals, while the losing sides will compete for positions five through eight.
