KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: The Al-Ajiri Scientific Center has announced the occurrence of two celestial events in January, beginning with the spectacular display of Quadrantid meteor showers that will adorn the skies of Kuwait on Wednesday and extend for two days. Following this celestial showcase, the second event, perihelion, is set to grace the heavens the day after tomorrow, on Thursday, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a statement released today, Tuesday, the center revealed that the Quadrantid meteor shower is poised to reach its zenith in the Kuwaiti firmament tomorrow night. The meteors will be most prominent as their radiant point ascends after midnight, enchanting observers during the pre-dawn hours of January 4.

Anticipated to deliver a breathtaking spectacle, the Quadrantid meteor shower is projected to produce an impressive 120 meteors per hour. These celestial wonders can be observed with the unaided eye in open and dimly lit locations throughout the night.

Additionally, on the subsequent day, Thursday, Kuwait is slated to witness another celestial marvel known as perihelion, coinciding with the onset of the new Gregorian year. During this occurrence, Earth will be in its closest proximity to the sun, resulting in the sun's disk appearing slightly larger and more radiant than usual.

For those captivated by the wonders of the cosmos, this celestial duo promises a mesmerizing celestial showcase in the Kuwaiti skies, inviting observers to marvel at the beauty of the Quadrantid meteor shower and the awe-inspiring proximity of Earth to the sun during perihelion.
