Kuwait to launch cybersecurity training program for government employees

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: Kuwait, currently ranked at Level 3 of the Global Cybersecurity Index, is taking significant steps to enhance the cybersecurity skills of its government employees. The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will soon launch an intensive training program to equip employees across all job categories with the knowledge needed to detect and combat risks and threats to information security.

The program will be conducted in three phases, with the first beginning in a few days, followed by sessions in December, and the final phase in February of next year. The training will focus on introducing participants to cybersecurity, emphasizing its importance, and developing their ability to identify and mitigate cyber risks to infrastructure. The goal is to ensure maximum protection of information security within government institutions.

Key objectives of the program include defining the concept of cybersecurity, understanding its core elements, and identifying potential risks and threats, along with strategies to confront them. The course will also cover advanced topics such as next-generation antivirus software, anti-hacking tools, and methods for strengthening information systems by addressing their weaknesses. Participants will also gain knowledge about the Global Cybersecurity Program led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and explore topics like browser and email security.

In related news, the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development recently announced Kuwait's ranking at Level 3 of the Cybersecurity Index 2024, both globally and within the region. The Global Cybersecurity Index, published by the ITU since 2015, evaluates countries based on five pillars: legal frameworks, technical measures, regulatory policies, capacity-building initiatives, and international cooperation.
