KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment on Tuesday to plans aimed at expanding the number of summer school clubs, enhancing supervisory staff, and broadening the range of activities offered during the summer vacation. These activities cover educational, physical, artistic, cultural, and volunteer fields.
This announcement followed the inauguration of four new summer clubs—three in the Jahra Educational District and one in the Farwaniya Educational District—raising the total number of summer clubs to 29. The ministry had previously resumed 25 summer clubs last June.
Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, Mariam Al-Enezi, stated that the ministry is responding to increasing student demand for effective programming and greater parental engagement, in line with directives from Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei. She highlighted that the clubs feature diverse activities, including sports, cultural, scientific, artistic, volunteer initiatives, and academic support programs. Notably, they also provide specialized activities for students with disabilities in special education schools, overseen by expert supervisors.
Dr. Yusra Al-Atir, acting general supervisor of physical education for girls, emphasized that sports clubs for female students are designed to develop physical and technical skills while fostering well-rounded personalities. Programs include swimming, handball, basketball, football, and recreational games tailored to the age and psychological development of the participants. She noted that electronic registration remains open and that 34 buses are available to transport female students from various regions, with all safety standards strictly observed.
Similarly, Dr. Hessa Arab, acting general supervisor of physical education for boys, reported that football, swimming, and bowling remain the most popular activities in the boys’ sports clubs. These programs focus on instilling behavioral, leadership, and athletic values, promoting teamwork, cooperation, and fair competition among students.
Mona Awad, acting general technical supervisor of computers, detailed the offerings of the robotics club, which provides an integrated curriculum covering programming, mechanics, electronics, and control. The club’s activities include training sessions, internal competitions, field visits to robotics facilities, as well as debates and workshops raising awareness about artificial intelligence.
Abdulaziz Al-Suwaid, Acting Director of the Special Education Schools Department, explained that the Special Education Summer Club serves male and female students with various disabilities. Under the guidance of specialized teachers and supervisors, the club delivers a wide range of integrated activities tailored to meet the unique needs of these students.
Lastly, Badr Al-Shatti, Head of the Summer Debate Club, outlined the club’s mission to develop students’ critical thinking, organized expression, and persuasive dialogue skills. The club offers training programs adapted to different educational levels, encouraging effective communication and reasoning among youth.
The Ministry’s ongoing efforts highlight its dedication to providing inclusive, diverse, and enriching summer opportunities for all students across Kuwait.
