Kuwait suspends sports activities for two weeks

KUWAIT, Feb 24 : Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri on Monday instructed all sports federations to suspend their activities countrywide for two weeks amid concerns over coronavirus (COVID-19).


In a statement to KUNA, Al-Jabri said that this action, a precaution in view of developments related to COVID-19, came in keeping with the cabinet directive to preserve the public interests and the health of the sports community.


He pointed out that after the end of the prescribed period; the situation will be evaluated again, calling on the Almighty to protect Kuwait and its people from all harm.


Earlier today, the Kuwaiti Cabinet decided in its weekly meeting based on the exceptional situation that requires strict measures to preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents and avoid the spread of the epidemic and the risk of canceling all activities of the popular national holidays until further notice.
