KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel and Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila conducted an inspection visit to the Ministry of Commerce’s central operations room, which plays a vital role in monitoring market activity. The operations room, directly linked to the Ministry of Interior, enhances the ministry’s ability to track market developments in real time.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Ajeel emphasized that maintaining market stability is a shared national responsibility, calling for the combined efforts of all relevant authorities. He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to continuous monitoring, with control teams intensifying inspection tours to ensure that suppliers and retail outlets comply with regulations that safeguard consumer rights and market integrity.
During the visit, both ministers were briefed on the operational mechanisms within the room and reviewed incoming reports from field teams. Minister Al-Ajeel underscored the importance of constant preparedness and close coordination with relevant authorities to guarantee the availability of goods and the smooth operation of food markets and other essential sectors.
Al-Ajeel also noted that the Ministry of Social Affairs has been asked to communicate with cooperative societies to encourage their collaboration with the central operations room. This integration is expected to support oversight efforts while respecting the distinct roles and responsibilities of each institution involved, within a framework of responsible coordination.
Reassuring the public, the minister confirmed the availability of essential commodities and the stability of Kuwait’s strategic stockpile. He stated that the market situation remains well under control, with an adequate supply of goods meeting consumer demand under the ministry’s approved contingency plans.
