Kuwait players celebrate victory over Palestine.

AMMAN, Aug 17: Kuwait cruised past Palestine with a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-14, 25-20) in its Group B opener at the 17th Arab U-18 Volleyball Championship, held in Amman, Jordan, and running through August 26.

The team wraps up the group stage tomorrow against Iraq. Elsewhere in Group B, Bahrain takes on Iraq today, while Group A features matchups between Egypt and Lebanon, and Jordan against Libya.

Under the tournament format, all teams advance to the quarterfinals. The top seed from Group A will play the fourth seed from Group B, while the second seed from Group B faces the third seed from Group A. Similarly, the Group B leader meets the fourth from Group A, and the second from Group A takes on the third from Group B.

Kuwait prepared for the tournament with a training camp in Cairo, where it played five friendlies against Egyptian youth teams, winning two matches and losing three.
