Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi delivers his opening speech at the Second Scientific Forum on Periodontal Surgery and Dental Implants.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi reaffirmed on Friday the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening prevention programs, health education, integrated care, and community awareness for all age groups, as part of broader efforts to enhance public health in Kuwait.

Speaking at the opening of the Second Scientific Forum on Periodontal Surgery and Dental Implants, organized by the Kuwait Association of Periodontal Diseases, Surgery, and Dental Implants, Dr. Al-Awadhi said the event serves as a vital platform for doctors, researchers, and experts to exchange knowledge and expertise in periodontal diseases, surgeries, and dental implants. He emphasized that oral and gum health are essential pillars of public health.

The Minister noted that monitoring gum and oral diseases goes far beyond cosmetic concerns, highlighting their close link to chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and arterial health. He stressed that maintaining oral health directly contributes to improving the overall quality of life.

Dr. Al-Awadhi noted that dental implants have become a reliable treatment option that significantly impacts both the health and aesthetic functions of teeth. He praised recent advances in guided surgical planning, digital impressions, and 3D imaging, which have made implant procedures more precise and safer.

He further commended the forum’s role in embodying Kuwait’s active commitment to scientific research and innovation, underscoring the state’s dedication to nurturing national medical talent and promoting professional excellence in healthcare.

Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted the contributions of the Kuwaiti Board Program for Periodontics and Dental Implants, in collaboration with the Association, in training future doctors to stay abreast of new developments, especially in computer systems and artificial intelligence applications. He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Health will continue to support initiatives aimed at advancing continuing medical education, fostering a culture of research, and implementing the latest treatment protocols in oral and gum health, aligning with global standards and elevating Kuwait’s reputation regionally and internationally.

For his part, Dr. Basis Al-Ajmi, President of the Kuwait Association of Periodontology, Surgery, and Dental Implants, said the organization of the second scientific forum represents the culmination of sustained efforts that began early this year, building on years of collaboration among various scientific and medical institutions in Kuwait.

Dr. Al-Ajmi emphasized that this achievement reflects collective teamwork and dedication toward advancing the fields of periodontology, surgery, and dental implants. He expressed gratitude to all supporting entities and partners, noting that their cooperation demonstrates a shared belief in the importance of promoting scientific and medical initiatives, while enhancing integration between academic and professional institutions to strengthen the nation’s healthcare sector.

The two-day forum features a series of scientific lectures and specialized workshops presented by prominent doctors and experts from Kuwait and abroad, aimed at exchanging experiences and discussing the latest technologies and advancements in periodontal disease management, surgery, and dental implantology.
