KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30: Kuwait’s national shooting team wrapped up a highly successful campaign at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Kazakhstan, clinching a total of eight medals — two gold, two silver, and four bronze.
Secretary-General of the Kuwait Shooting Club and head of the delegation, Obaid Al-Ousaimi, announced that marksman Ahmed Al-Afasi secured a bronze medal in the men’s Double Trap event on Friday. He finished third behind India’s Ankur Mittal, who captured gold, and Kazakhstan’s Artem Shikalov, who claimed silver.
Al-Ousaimi dedicated the team’s outstanding medal haul to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, as well as to the people of Kuwait and members of the Kuwait Shooting Club.
He praised the tireless efforts of the Kuwaiti shooters, both men and women, whose determination and hard work led to these remarkable results. He also lauded the excellent organisation of the tournament by the Asian Shooting Confederation, led by Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, as well as the local organising committee in Kazakhstan.
Al-Ousaimi reaffirmed the commitment of the club’s board of directors, under the leadership of Duaij Al-Otaibi, to continue supporting Kuwaiti shooters in their pursuit of further achievements on the international stage.
