WASHINGTON, Sept 30: Kuwait's Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) is intensifying efforts to boost international cooperation and expand air connectivity, aiming to develop the country’s air transport sector and solidify Kuwait International Airport’s role as a key regional hub.

These commitments were underscored during bilateral meetings between the Kuwaiti delegation and several international counterparts at the ongoing International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conference, taking place from September 23 to October 3 in Montreal, Canada.

Sheikh Humoud Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Director General of PACA, led discussions with delegations from Brazil, China, and Singapore.

In talks with the Chinese delegation, the Kuwaiti side reviewed new aviation projects underway in Kuwait, emphasizing efforts to encourage Chinese airlines to launch passenger and cargo flights to Kuwait International Airport. Both parties explored leveraging China’s expertise in airport management and air cargo operations to enhance Kuwait’s aviation capabilities.

A meeting with the Brazilian delegation focused on opening and operating new flight routes between Kuwait and Brazil, either direct or via third-party international airports, involving Kuwait Airways and Brazilian carriers.

Discussions with the Singaporean delegation centered on promoting direct flights between Kuwait and Singapore, as well as tapping into Singapore’s extensive experience in airport management, air cargo city operations, and cooperation in training and expertise exchange.

The PACA delegation also participated in official ceremonies hosted by Qatar and South Korea in honor of all ICAO meeting participants.

Kuwait’s active engagement at ICAO highlights its strategic intent to expand international air links and benefit from global aviation expertise to advance its sector.
