AMMAN, Sept 8: Kuwait's junior handball team will play its second match today in Group Two of the main round at the 10th Asian Championship, currently taking place in Amman, Jordan. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2025 World Junior Cup in Slovenia.

The Kuwaiti team will face Qatar at 4:30 pm. In the same group, Bahrain will play Japan. Meanwhile, in the consolation rounds, the UAE will face Chinese Taipei, and India will take on China.

In the first match of the main round, Kuwait suffered its first defeat of the tournament, narrowly losing to Bahrain 33-35, while Japan dominated Qatar with a 39-20 victory. The tournament teams will have a rest day on Tuesday, with the third and final round of the main stage scheduled for Wednesday, where Kuwait will face Japan.

Under the tournament rules, the top five teams qualify for the 2025 World Cup. The semi-finalists qualify directly, while the third-placed teams from each group will compete in a play-off, with the winner advancing to the World Cup alongside the four semi-finalists.
