KUWAIT CITY, April 28: In a continued effort to support the health system in the Gaza Strip amidst ongoing Israeli attacks, the Kuwait Relief Society has dispatched its second medical relief team to the region. The team, consisting of 17 members, including 14 Kuwaiti medical professionals, departed aboard a military plane from Abdullah Al-Mubarak Air Base bound for Al-Arish International Airport in Egypt. From there, they will proceed to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, conveyed that the medical team comprises specialists, consultants, nurses, and relief coordinators, equipped with six tons of essential medical supplies. Their mission aims to bolster the healthcare infrastructure in Gaza, providing critical medical equipment, surgical necessities, and medications, particularly for severe and chronic cases.

The Kuwaiti relief medical team plans to conduct significant surgical procedures across various specialties, alongside implementing relief projects such as food and shelter initiatives. This deployment aligns with contributions from the ongoing “Fazaa for Palestine” campaign, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Jamal Al-Nouri, Treasurer of the Kuwaiti Relief Society, highlighted the success of the first relief trip and the overwhelming support from Kuwait, Gulf, and Arab nations. The initial team’s efforts led to 184 surgical operations, over 1,000 medical examinations, and the employment of 313 Palestinian medical staff. Additionally, food and shelter projects, benefiting approximately 70,000 affected individuals, were successfully executed.

The dispatch of the second medical team underscores Kuwait’s dedication to providing crucial medical assistance and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges.
