KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior recorded 1,179 traffic accidents in the past week, resulting in 180 injuries, according to security statistics released Monday.
The report, covering the period from August 30 to September 5, showed that authorities issued 31,395 traffic violations across all governorates. Farwaniya registered the highest number with 6,472 violations, followed by the Capital Governorate with 5,286, and Ahmadi with 5,022. Jahra recorded 4,719 violations, Hawally 2,317, while Mubarak Al-Kabeer had the lowest with 2,111.
The statistics also revealed that 79 juveniles were referred to the relevant authorities for driving without a license, including 60 in Jahra Governorate alone.
During the same period, the Operations Department received 2,042 reports. Police impounded 29 vehicles and one motorcycle for traffic law violations, while 65 offenders were detained at traffic stations, including 40 in Jahra.
Security operations further led to the arrest of 66 individuals wanted for various crimes, 36 without identification, two suspects in theft cases, 126 expatriates with expired residency permits, two street vendors, three individuals in drug-related cases, and one person found in an abnormal condition.
