KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: Kuwait ranked fourth in the Gulf and Arab countries and 60 globally in the list of the best country to live in around the world, according to The Statehood Index StIx, achieving 0.70 points, describing the quality of performance of Kuwaiti institutions as moderate. As part of a research project issued by the German University of Würzburg, experts ranked 173 countries according to the extent to which they meet the basic needs of their population, including other criteria such as the rule of law, crime rate, violence, governance, and others.

Performance
The composite index refers to the performance of institutions and the ability of the state to introduce and support the laws enacted by the system. The index is also a tool for measuring the quality of the state by collecting detailed data to enhance performance comparison and policy analysis. The UAE ranked first regionally and 32 globally, followed by Oman 48, Qatar 52, Kuwait 60, and Saudi Arabia 63. Singapore topped the world rankings, followed by Australia in second place, Denmark third, the Netherlands fourth, and Estonia fifth, while Luxembourg, Norway, Belgium, New Zealand and Germany dominated the rest of the top ten respectively. The United States ranked 23rd, and Taiwan ranked 43rd, ahead of China, which ranked 61st after Kuwait. On the other hand, at the bottom of the index was Libya at 173, Yemen came at 172 and South Sudan at 171.
