KUWAIT CITY, June 14: The Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) convened an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss preparedness and necessary measures in light of current regional developments, particularly the ongoing Israeli aggression on Iran and its wider implications.
The meeting was chaired by KPA Director General Sheikh Khaled Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah and attended by his assistants, a representative from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, department directors, and members of the authority’s emergency committee.
In a statement to KUNA, Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the KPA’s continued vital role in supervising operations at the country’s three main commercial ports—Shuwaikh, Shuaiba, and Doha—which are essential for receiving shipments of various goods and consumer supplies.
He emphasized the authority’s focus on prioritizing the supply of food and medicine during this period, underscoring the importance of maintaining strategic stock levels and ensuring national food security.
The emergency meeting comes amid heightened regional tensions and aims to safeguard Kuwait’s logistical and supply chain operations in the face of evolving geopolitical risks.
