KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat forgery and the abuse of public office, the Criminal Security Sector, through the General Department of Criminal Investigation and specifically the Land Ports Investigations Department, has arrested three civilian employees of the General Department of Land Ports for tampering with the computer system that records travelers’ entry and exit.
The case came to light following information that two employees ( one working in the Immigration Department at Nuwaiseeb Port and the other at the Immigration Department at Salmi Port) exploited their positions to enter incorrect data into the Ministry of Interior’s automated system. They recorded false entry and exit information for two Kuwaiti women, thereby creating a fraudulent record of their presence in the country.
Further investigation, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, revealed that the two women had been receiving financial assistance unlawfully despite having left Kuwait several months prior. Additionally, the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that the actual entry and exit records did not match the falsified data in the Ministry’s system, thereby confirming the forgery.
Following the issuance of the necessary legal approvals, the first two defendants were arrested at their workplaces. Upon questioning, they confessed to the charges and admitted that a third employee, also stationed in the Immigration Department at the Salmi Port, had assisted in manipulating the automated system. The third employee was immediately apprehended, and legal measures were taken against all three individuals, who have been referred to the competent authorities for further action.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its strict stance, emphasizing that the law applies to everyone without exception. The Ministry underscored that it will not tolerate any misuse of authority or violation of job duties and will continue its rigorous pursuit of anyone attempting to compromise or tamper with official systems.
