Players intensify their local training.

KUWAIT CITY, June 26: The Football Association’s technical committee has announced a one-week postponement of the Olympic football team’s training camp, now set to begin on July 6 in Cairo, Egypt.

The Blues continue their preparations at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium’s auxiliary stadium as they gear up for the AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in January 2026.

Competing in Group B, Kuwait will face tough opponents including Japan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. Myanmar will host the group tournament from September 1 to 9, 2025.

The qualification format will see the top team from each of the ten groups and the five best second-placed teams advance to the finals, joining hosts Saudi Arabia. The finals will feature 16 teams divided into four groups.

Following its overseas camp, the team is expected to start a second intensive training program to further enhance its readiness ahead of the qualifiers. A roster reduction is also planned as part of the final preparations.

To acclimate to local conditions, the team’s delegation will depart for Myanmar one week before the tournament to adapt to the different climate and temperature, ensuring peak performance during the qualifiers.
