KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Saqr Al-Mulla, Deputy Director-General of Competitive Sports at the Public Authority for Sports (PAS), said PAS, in cooperation with the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC), is developing a comprehensive plan to develop women’s sports in general, and that the features of the plan will become clear in the coming period, and include an increase in the number of women in sports clubs and federations.

This came during an open meeting held by Al-Mulla under the title ‘We hear from you’ at the PAS theater the day before yesterday with female athletes, administrators, referees, and other concerned bodies with the participation of Fatima Hayat, member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Women’s Sports Committee.

Al-Mulla affirmed that the PAS officials are pursuing an “open door” policy and applying it on the ground, which is what prompted them to hold this meeting with the Women’s Committee in the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee. Al-Mulla also stressed on the great role played by the chairperson of the Women’s Sports Committee in the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, Hayat, and her sisters, who established a broad base in various games, which began to show a modern and advanced form of women’s sports. In turn, Hayat confirmed that the role played by the PAS, represented by the Director General, Dr. Hamoud Fleeth, and his deputy, Dr. Saqr Al-Mulla, to support women’s sports, has become a tangible matter on the ground through the establishment of women’s committees in federations and clubs.
