Kuwait Now Revokes Citizenship for Misconduct, besides Forgery, and Dual Nationality

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation announced today that it has approved the loss and withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship in cases involving dual nationality, forgery, and distinguished deeds.

The committee convened on Thursday, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. During the meeting, the committee reviewed procedures and criteria for revoking citizenship in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

In a statement to the press, the committee clarified that its decisions are being finalized for presentation to the Council of Ministers. The specific cases include:

  • Loss of Kuwaiti citizenship due to dual nationality — individuals holding citizenship of another country without complying with legal requirements may have their Kuwaiti nationality revoked.
  • Withdrawal of citizenship due to forgery or false statements — cases involving fraudulent documentation or misinformation during the naturalization process.
  • Withdrawal of citizenship for misconduct — cases in which actions or behavior are deemed contrary to the interests of the state or public order.

The committee emphasized that these measures aim to uphold the integrity of citizenship laws and ensure that Kuwaiti nationality is held in accordance with the country’s legal and ethical standards.
