KUWAIT CITY, July 5: In a bid to tackle the issue of bachelor housing in private and standard residential areas, Kuwait Municipality conducted a thorough inspection today in the Al-Firdous area of Al-Farwaniya Governorate. More than 10 houses were identified as being utilized for bachelor accommodation, prompting immediate action to combat this phenomenon.

Abdullah Al-Mutairi, the head of the Kuwait Municipality team, confirmed to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the electricity supply to these properties has been disconnected as a consequence of violating regulations. This ongoing campaign, initiated in June and scheduled to continue for the next 5 months, involves regular visits to the monitored houses. The Municipality collaborates closely with the Ministries of Justice and the Interior to conduct thorough inspections of the properties in question.

Al-Mutairi emphasized that Kuwait Municipality promptly addresses new complaints concerning internal housing areas by forming joint work teams to inspect the real estate. During today’s joint committee operation, power supply disconnections were carried out, and violations were removed. Detailed violation reports were also issued. Al-Mutairi highlighted that the Municipality, along with other participating entities, is determined and committed to minimizing the negative impact of these violations.

Furthermore, he appealed to the owners of these non-compliant properties to demonstrate social responsibility and prioritize the safety and well-being of residents. With numerous building code violations prevalent in bachelor accommodations, it is imperative to uphold security and protect lives.
