Kuwait Monitors Saudi Arabia and Iraq Borders 24/7

KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The Director General of the General Department for Land Border Security Major General Mijbil Fahad bin Shawq revealed that the land borders with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq are monitored 24 hours a day by human element and a security system linked to a central operations room, reports Al-Anba daily. During a press interview, Major General Mijbil bin Shawq explained that there is an electrical security system and a trench separating the Kuwaiti and Iraqi borders to prevent any attempts to infiltrate or smuggle contraband.

There is continuous coordination and cooperation between Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq for the exchange of information, and to hold bilateral and tripartite meetings to discuss some issues and find a solution to them. These meetings resulted in curbing infiltration attempts and smuggling of contraband through the land borders. He stressed that the officers of the General Department for Land Border Security represent the authority supervising the protection and security of the coalition crossing Khabari Al- Awazem Port and providing support in cooperation and coordination with other parties, adding that border security is responsible for protecting and securing the oil sites in the restricted area. Major General Bin Shawq affirmed that 41 border posts and nine security points distributed throughout the land borders with Saudi Arabia and Iraq cover the requirements for protecting the borders.
