KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The Ministry of Health (MoH), through its Elderly Health Services Department, launched on Sunday the awareness campaign “Health through Balanced Medication” to highlight the risks associated with multiple medications.
The campaign, running until next Thursday, targets the elderly and their caregivers, emphasizing the importance of safe and balanced use of medicines and the need to identify inappropriate or duplicate prescriptions. The initiative aims to safeguard health and improve the quality of life for senior citizens.
Activities began at Al-Assima Mall, in Kuwait City, on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will continue at Al-Oyoun Health Center on Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by Jabriya Health Center (Mahmoud Haider) on Tuesday during the same hours. On Wednesday, the campaign will be held at Bayan Health Center, and it will conclude at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to raise community awareness about polypharmacy risks, particularly among older adults, and encourages periodic medication reviews in consultation with specialized doctors and pharmacists.
