KUWAIT CITY, May 27: The General Authority for Food and Nutrition has announced the outcomes of the Supreme Committee for Food Safety’s third meeting of 2025. The committee recommended lifting the ban on the import of all types of poultry meat—fresh, chilled, processed, and frozen—as well as their derivatives, products, and table eggs from 34 regions across 22 U.S. states, following the containment of highly pathogenic avian influenza in those areas. Conversely, the committee also recommended imposing a ban on the import of similar poultry products and table eggs from seven other U.S. states where new outbreaks of the disease have been reported. The ban excludes products that have been heat-treated at a minimum of 70 degrees Celsius.
