Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah arrives at the launch ceremony of the Ministry of Defense’s 2025/2030 Strategic Plan, marking a pivotal step in strengthening Kuwait’s defense capabilities.
KUWAIT CITY, May 8: Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah has launched the 2025/2030 Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Defense; stressing that it is a translation of the directives of Armed Forces Supreme Commander His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and that it is a pivotal pillar and turning point in the development of performance and capabilities at the ministry. He affirmed the full support of the political leadership for the military institution to develop its capabilities, keep pace with future developments and overcome challenges; thereby, strengthening national security and stability.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all the teams that contributed to the preparation of this plan; indicating that the efforts exerted reflect a high level of professionalism, planning and team spirit to realize the desired visions and goals, such as the highest level of excellence and professional readiness. Meanwhile, Plan Preparation Team Leader and Ministry of Defense Undersecretary Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah gave a comprehensive presentation on the strategic plan; outlining its main themes, interim objectives, and implementation and follow-up mechanisms.
He explained that the plan is considered a comprehensive roadmap that keeps pace with the accelerating challenges in the defense and security environment regionally and internationally. He said the plan contributes to the ongoing efforts to consolidate the foundations of institutional work and sustainability in military and administrative performance, while building an advanced defense system based on clear scientific and methodological foundations.
He disclosed the vision revolves around leadership in polishing the defense capabilities of the Kuwaiti Army; thus, preserving the security and territorial integrity of the State of Kuwait. He pointed out this is part of the commitment of the ministry to protect the sovereignty of Kuwait and its interests, while deterring any aggression. He confirmed this move reinforces a sense of security, belongingness and national pride through the development of an integrated defense system that encompasses human resources, capabilities and technical systems. He said the plan is consistent with the general vision of the Kuwaiti government, indicating that it took several months to complete and it is regarded as a qualitative shift in the work of the ministry.
He clarified that the preparation of the plan was based on thorough study and extensive, realistic and scientific analysis that addressed future developments and challenges. He added the plan was based on leading international practices and defense objectives are in line with national priorities; thereby, achieving integration and effectiveness at the security, defense and development levels.
