Kuwait Intercepts Marijuana Smuggled From U.S. In Decorative Package

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle 47 kilograms of marijuana into the country through a shipment labeled as ‘decorations’ that arrived via air freight from the United States. After discovering the contraband, the anti-narcotics officers immediately headed to the headquarters of the shipping company to track down those involved in the drug smuggling attempt. One of the suspects was arrested upon completion of procedures to receive the shipment, while the other -- who has a criminal record for drug trafficking -- was apprehended after a police chase on the streets of Jahra Industrial Area. He resisted arrest and collided with patrol vehicles, endangering lives, before being subdued. Both suspects were referred to the DGCD for investigation and other legal measures, pending their referral to the Narcotics Prosecution.
