KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17, (KUNA): The 2025–2026 season of the Kuwait Men’s Ice Hockey League got underway, featuring five teams. The tournament is organized by the Kuwait Winter Games Club and is being held at the club’s rink in Bayan, running through March next year.
Last season’s runners-up, Stars, opened the season with a thrilling 10-8 victory over defending champions Warriors. Both teams delivered strong performances across all three periods, but the Stars managed to secure the win in their bid to reclaim the title.
Other participating teams include Mushads, Camels, and Ice Stars, the latter making their debut in the league. Matches are held twice weekly, and the championship will be awarded to the team that accumulates the most points by the end of the season.
Fahad Al-Ajmi, President of the Winter Games Club, described the league as the official launch of the club’s sporting season, which will include tournaments for other sports under the club’s supervision for men and women across various age groups.
Al-Ajmi also highlighted the participation of professional players in this edition, noting that their presence will help elevate the skill level of Kuwaiti players and provide valuable experience that will benefit the national team in upcoming international competitions.
He added that the club places great importance on local tournaments as they lay the foundation for preparing athletes for international events. All matches are conducted under the rules and regulations of the International Ice Hockey Federation, officiated by certified Kuwaiti referees.
