Kuwait handball team wraps up friendly matches in Turkey

IZMIR, May 9: The Kuwait national handball team will wrap up its series of friendly matches in Turkey tomorrow with a face-off against its Turkish counterpart in the second trial at the sports complex hall in Izmir.

Invited by the Turkish Handball Federation, the Handball Federation of Kuwait engaged in two friendly encounters during the international break. Kuwait is gearing up for participation in the 2025 World Cup finals, slated to be held in Croatia, Denmark, and Norway. Their qualification for the World Cup was secured by clinching the fourth qualifying spot in the Asian Cup, hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain last January. This marks Kuwait’s ninth qualification for the World Handball Cup, following successful qualifications in 1982, 1995, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, and finally in 2009 in Croatia.

Heading the handball delegation in Turkey is Khaled Ghuloum, Treasurer of the Federation, accompanied by Abdullah Al-Dhiyab, the Assistant Secretary of the Federation, and the technical staff of the first national team. The team is under the guidance of Algerian coach Saeed Hegazy, assisted by compatriot Mohamed Masoudan, Hungarian goalkeeping coach Levy, technical analyst Ayman Al-Sheikh, and a physiotherapist. The team comprises 18 players: Abdullah Al-Khamis, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, Fawaz Al-Shammari, Muhammad Amer, Abdulaziz Salmeen, Ali Nusair, Saleh Al-Moussawi, Fawaz Al-Mishari, Haider Dashti, Fawaz Abdul-Hadi, Youssef Dhaif, Muhammad Ali Ghazanfar, Muhammad Al-Sanea, Ali Safar, Fahd Salboukh, Abdulaziz Al-Dhafiri, Faraj Al-Salem, and Fahd Abdul-Hadi.
