KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8 (KUNA): Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA), signed a contract on Tuesday with Arnaud Rouger, Chairman of France’s Professional Football League (LFP), to host the French Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille on January 8, 2026.

The signing took place during a press conference attended by French Ambassador to Kuwait Olivier Gauvin and Marc Biolley, head of Matchworld Football, the company organizing the event.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf said that hosting the French Super Cup is in line with directives from Kuwait’s political leadership to organize major international sporting events. A delegation from the LFP recently visited Kuwait to review preparations, and they were impressed with the facilities at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, as well as Jaber Al-Mubarak and Ali Sabah Al-Salem stadiums.

He added that the match carries global significance, featuring Paris Saint-Germain, holders of the French League and UEFA Champions League titles, and Marseille, known for its technically skilled squad.

Details regarding ticketing and sales outlets will be announced soon. In addition, the KFA has partnered with Kuwait Airways to provide special offers for fans worldwide and attract the largest possible audience.

Arnaud Rouger praised Kuwait’s bid, noting that the KFA submitted the best proposal to host the match. He also confirmed that the French Football Federation will appoint the referees, given the high-profile nature of the fixture.
