BANGKOK, April 17: Kuwait faces a challenging opening match against Bahrain at 5:00 at the Asian Futsal Cup at the Hawa Mark Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. In another Group D match, Iran will compete against Afghanistan at noon.

The continental championship, which kicked off extending until April 28 in Thailand, holds immense significance for all participating teams as it serves as a qualifying platform for the World Cup in Uzbekistan scheduled for next September. Teams advancing to the semi-finals secure their berths in the World Cup.

Kuwait previously encountered Bahrain during the qualifiers for the current edition, which they won 5-3. Kuwait underwent rigorous training in preparation for the tournament, including two camps in Dammam and Bangkok, where they engaged in several friendly matches. These matches served as a litmus test for the technical staff to assess the readiness of all selected players for the tournament.

Al-Azraq is under the guidance of Spanish coach David Marin (Kazma Club coach), who is temporarily leading the team in the continental finals after the dismissal of Iranian coach Mohamed Nazim Al-Sharia. With a roster boasting players renowned for their skill, experience, and capabilities, including Muhammad Al-Hazeem, Fahd Al-Khawari, Ahmed Al-Farsi, Abdul-Rahman Al-Taweel, Saleh Al-Fadil, and Abdul-Latif Al-Abbasi, Al-Azraq aims to achieve commendable results in the finals.
