KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: After the Ministry of Commerce and Industry revised certain provisions in Resolution No. (103) of 2022, setting the recruitment cost for domestic workers at 750 dinars for those from Asian countries, 575 dinars for workers from African nations, and 350 dinars for those with special passports, official statistics disclosed that the total number of domestic workers reached 811,307, distributed among the top 10 countries, as of mid-2023, according to the Public Authority for Civil Information.

India maintains its lead in the number of domestic workers, with 361,222, constituting 44.5%; the Philippines follows with 201,000 workers, accounting for 24.8%, while Sri Lanka holds the third position with 102,000 workers, making up 12.6%. Bangladesh secures the fourth spot, with 85,000 workers, representing 10.6%.

Nepalese workers rank fifth, numbering 25,000 or 3.1%, followed by Ethiopian workers in the sixth position with 11,000 workers, making up 1.4%. Benin holds the seventh spot with 5,000 workers.

Indonesian employment witnessed a decline to about two thousand, comprising 0.3%.
