KUWAIT CITY, Jun 17: Kuwait’s Meteorology Department said on Wednesday that dusty conditions affecting the country are expected to gradually improve as northwesterly winds weaken during the coming hours.
Acting Director of the Meteorology Department Dharar Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait has been experiencing unstable weather conditions since Tuesday morning due to an extension of a surface low-pressure system, accompanied by a hot air mass and active northwesterly winds.
The winds intensified on Wednesday, at times becoming strong and exceeding speeds of 60 kilometers per hour, lifting sand and dust across exposed areas. The dusty conditions reduced horizontal visibility to around 1,000 meters in some locations.
Al-Ali said wind speeds are expected to decrease gradually, allowing dust levels to subside and visibility to improve from the early hours of the night.
Forecasts indicate that Thursday’s weather will remain hot during the daytime and warm at night, with light to moderate northwesterly winds ranging between 10 and 30 kilometers per hour.
Authorities have advised motorists and residents, particularly those in open areas, to remain cautious while dusty conditions persist.
