The Kuwait cricket team warmly welcomed at Kuwait International Airport following its victorious campaign in the ICC 50 overs Challenge League Play-off in Malaysia.

KUWAIT CITY, March 14: The Kuwait Men’s National cricket team was warmly welcomed at Kuwait International Airport on March 12, 2024, following their victorious campaign in the ICC 50 overs Challenge League Play-off in Malaysia earlier in the month. Led by captain Mohammad Aslam and guided by coaches Qasim Ali and Shehan Shashika, with Naveen Jayan managing, the team received a heartfelt reception from the Kuwait Cricket Contingent, including KCC President Haider Farman, KCC Director General Sajid Ashraf, and other senior KCC officials.

Haider Farman, President of Kuwait Cricket Board, expressed immense joy and satisfaction, labeling the win as historic and groundbreaking for Kuwait Cricket. He attributed the success to the collective efforts of the KCC family over the years, extending congratulations to every member of the Malaysian delegation and the wider KCC community for this notable achievement. Despite initial challenges faced against Saudi Arabia in the league stage, he lauded the team’s resilience and skill showcased throughout the tournament.

Sajid Ashraf, KCC Director General, shared in the jubilation, highlighting that Kuwait’s qualification for the ICC CWC Challenge League, granting them List A Status by the ICC, fulfilled one of their long-held dreams. He commended the team for their exceptional prowess, determination, and unity, underscoring their journey through 15 List A matches and their pursuit of ICC ODI Status, facilitated by their qualification for the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League 2024-2027.

Looking ahead, the Kuwait National Men’s Cricket Team readies itself for the ACC T20 Men’s Premier League in Oman from April 10th to 24th, 2024, after a brief respite. With their recent triumph and newfound momentum, Kuwait aims to maintain its stellar performance on the global cricket stage.
