Kuwait Confirms Strong Food Reserves, Supply Chains Unaffected

KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirmed on Friday that Kuwait's strategic stockpile of food commodities remains "reassuring." The statement was made by Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry, during an interview with Kuwait TV. He discussed the ministry’s preparedness to handle emergencies, especially in light of rising regional tensions.

Al-Ansari stated that emergency teams from the ministry conducted inspections of warehouses operated by private sector companies to verify the availability and stability of food supplies. He emphasized that the strategic food stock is sufficient and well-maintained. He also noted that coordination is ongoing with the Federation of Consumer Cooperative Societies to assess food inventories at cooperative outlets. According to Al-Ansari, food supply chains are functioning normally without any disruptions.

Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, confirmed that the cooperative sector, working in coordination with government agencies, is actively monitoring the availability of goods in local markets. She assured the public that the strategic stockpile remains stable and that essential goods are readily available to meet consumer needs without disruption.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Friday evening, Dr. Al-Huwailah stated that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Public Authority for the Disabled and the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has implemented regulatory measures across various sectors to ensure the continued efficiency and reliability of services in light of ongoing regional developments.

She explained that relevant authorities are closely overseeing their operational and technical functions in a coordinated manner, ensuring that all technical and administrative requirements are met. Systems are stable and functioning under approved frameworks and operational plans designed to uphold service quality.

Dr. Al-Huwailah emphasized that specialized task forces are actively fulfilling their responsibilities according to a defined timetable, achieving the highest levels of institutional readiness to maintain uninterrupted service delivery.
