Kuwait confirms strategic food stock is sufficient, no cause for concern
Kuwait officials ensure a steady flow of goods, caution against hoarding.

KUWAIT CITY, June 19: Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal AlHuwaila and Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel affirmed Thursday that Kuwait's strategic stock of essential goods is available in adequate quantities. They also emphasized continued coordination between the ministries to ensure the uninterrupted availability of these goods in local markets.

The statement was issued jointly by the two ministries following a meeting between the ministers to assess the readiness of cooperative societies and stock levels. The meeting falls within the framework of implementing the national emergency plan and involved field visits to evaluate the preparedness of cooperatives.

According to the statement, the ministers reviewed reports from field teams that routinely monitor inventory levels and examine supply and distribution data. These efforts aim to ensure rapid response capability in the event of any supply chain disruptions.

During the meeting, the ministers instructed local factories and suppliers to prioritize delivering goods to cooperative societies, which they described as the primary entities responsible for the preservation and distribution of food commodities. They praised the cooperatives’ 24/7 efforts to maintain market stability and meet consumer demand.

Both ministers also highlighted the importance of public awareness regarding food hoarding. They urged citizens and residents not to stockpile goods at home, warning of potential spoilage and improper storage. The statement reassured the public that supplies remain stable and there is no cause for concern.
