KUWAIT CITY, March 21: In a thrilling showdown, Kuwait soared to the summit of the Golden Square competitions in the Basketball League by overpowering Al-Qadisiya with a commanding scoreline of 102-87. This pivotal match marked the culmination of the first division, which also witnessed Kazma's triumph over Al-Arabi with a score of 97-89, propelling Kuwait to the zenith of the standings with six points. Al-Qadisiya trailed closely behind with five points, while Kazma and Al-Arabi secured four and three points respectively.

As per the tournament format, the top four teams engaged in a two-section tournament within the golden square. Following this stage, the first-ranked team would face the fourth-ranked team, and the second-ranked team would compete against the third-ranked team in the semi-finals. These semi-final matches would adhere to a playoff system comprising three intense encounters, with the victor of two matches advancing to the final, which would adopt the same system.

The opening quarter of the gripping contest between Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya witnessed a fierce battle, with both sides displaying remarkable strength and parity. Al-Qadisiya managed to edge ahead by a slim margin of 25-26, courtesy of stellar performances from Abdul Mohsen Al-Moussawi and the American player Robert Lowry.

The second quarter maintained the neck-and-neck intensity, with Kuwait Club seizing the advantage and surging ahead, only for Al-Qadisiya to swiftly level the scoreline by the end of the quarter, resulting in a deadlock at 51-51.

The rivalry intensified in the third quarter, with Al-Qadisiya seizing the momentum through stellar displays from their American players, Lowry and Teran, ending the quarter with a six-point lead at 77-71.

Despite Al-Qadisiya's efforts to retain their lead in the final quarter, Kuwait Club asserted its dominance, leveraging the experience of its players in crucial moments to clinch a well-deserved victory with a final score of 102-87.
