KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: The Zain Premier League resumes today after a 21-day break due to Kuwait’s national team commitments in the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers. The fourth round kicks off with a match between Khaitan and Yarmouk at Nasser Al-Osaimi Stadium, starting at 7:45 pm.
Two more matches will take place on Saturday. The first will see Kuwait Club face Al-Nasr at Al-Sadaka and Al-Salam Stadium at 6:20 pm, followed by a clash between Al-Tadamon and Kazma at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium at 8:35 pm. The round concludes on Sunday with two final fixtures: Al-Fahaheel hosting Al-Arabi, and Al-Qadisiya squaring off against Al-Salmiya in the highlight match of the round.
Currently, Kuwait Club tops the league standings with 9 points, edging out Al-Arabi on goal difference. Al-Salmiya and Al-Fahaheel are tied for third with 6 points each, while Al-Qadisiya, Kazma, Al-Nasr, and Khaitan share 3 points each. Al-Tadamon and Yarmouk are at the bottom with just 1 point each.
In today’s match, Khaitan (3 points) is aiming for a second win, having beaten Al-Nasr 2-0 in the second round, despite suffering heavy losses to Al-Fahaheel (4-1) and Kuwait Club (5-0). Yarmouk (1 point) is still chasing its first win after defeats to Al-Qadisiya (1-0) and Al-Fahaheel (4-2), with a single draw against Al-Tadamon (4-4).
Meanwhile, Kuwait Club will be aiming for its fourth consecutive win, having already beaten Al-Qadisiya (1-0), Al-Fahaheel (3-0), and Khaitan (5-0) without conceding a goal. A win would further boost the team’s morale ahead of its AFC Champions League Group 2 opener against Uzbekistan’s Nasaf next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Al-Nasr (3 points) has intensified training in preparation for the match, hoping to secure a second win after defeating Kazma 1-0 in the previous round, despite earlier losses to Al-Salmiya (3-1) and Khaitan (2-0).
In the second match, Kazma will be seeking its second win of the season, having defeated Al-Salmiya 4-3, but lost to Al-Arabi (2-0) and Al-Nasr (1-0). Under new Tunisian coach Lassad Al-Shaabi, Kazma will also be bolstered by its recent signing of Angolan defender Jonas Ramalho, replacing Jordanian player Ahmed Ersan. Al-Tadamon, on the other hand, is eager to capitalize on Kazma’s form and secure its first win of the competition, following losses to Al-Arabi (3-2) and Al-Salmiya (2-1), and a draw with Yarmouk (4-4).
