Kuwait Club player goes for a spike against Al-Shabab.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 29: The Federation Cup Volleyball Championship kicks off today, featuring the Yarmouk and Sulaibkhat matches at 5:15 pm in the Al-Ittihad Hall. The tournament running until the 21st of this month with the participation of nine clubs.

In a closely contested match, Kuwait secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab in the recently postponed volleyball league preliminary round. This win propelled Kuwait Club to the top spot with 42 points, closely followed by Al-Qadisiya at 40 points. Al-Arabi and Burgan share the third position with 35 points each, while Kazma stands at 34 points. The tournament format dictates that the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. Following an international points system, a 3-0 or 3-1 victory awards the winning team three points, leaving the loser with none. In case of a 3-2 victory, the winner receives two points, and the loser gains one point.

Several matches involving Kuwait Club, Al-Qadisiya, Kazma, and Burgan were postponed due to their participation in international competitions. Kazma and Burgan recently concluded their involvement in the Arab Championship by competing for the seventh and eighth places.
