KUWAIT CITY, July 28: Moroccan professional Amin Abu Al-Fath has entered Kuwait Club’s radar and is now a top candidate to replace Argentine professional Sergio Vitor, who suffered a cruciate ligament tear during the team's camp in Turkey last week. Abu Al-Fath, born in 1997, previously played for Youssoufia Berrechid in Morocco and was recently close to signing with Al-Khaldiya in Bahrain, but negotiations fell through. He currently plays for the Moroccan club Wydad Athletic.
Kuwait Club’s interest in Abu Al-Fath arises due to the prolonged absence of Vitor, who is expected to be sidelined for four to six months, with the potential for a longer recovery period if he does not respond well to treatment. The Argentine player has left the camp and traveled to Barcelona to begin his treatment program.
Kuwait Club aims to swiftly finalize the signing of a new defender before the new season begins. The team faces two significant challenges: a play-off match to qualify for the Asian Champions League against Al-Ahli of Bahrain in Manama on August 14, and a crucial Zain Premier League opener against Al-Qadisiya on August 8.
Kuwait Club had contracted Vitor, who spent his last season with Al-Qadisiya. Kuwait Club secured a 3-1 victory over Neom of Saudi Arabia in their final friendly match at the Turkish camp. Goals were scored by Fahad Al-Hajri, Youssef Nasser, and Mohammed Farah. The Kuwait Club delegation is set to return from the Turkish camp this evening, with training set to resume tomorrow.
Kazma lost 2-3 to Smouha in a friendly match held at their camp in Egypt the day before yesterday. The Kazma delegation is expected to return from their external camp tomorrow, before resuming training for the Zain Premier League season.
