KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Kuwait Club has confirmed the extension of star midfielder Amro Abdel Fattah “Amouri” until 2031. Amouri joined the club in August 2022 after starting his career at Khaitan and later playing for Egypt’s Al-Masry Club.
The club is meticulously preparing its squad ahead of the Zain Premier League season, which kicks off Saturday against Al-Tadamoon. Kuwait Club has bolstered its roster by signing English professional Sam Morsi and recalling Moroccan midfielder Mahdi Barhouma to replace Congolese Hinoque Baka, who continues to recover from a long-term injury. Additionally, the contracts of Bahraini Mohammed Marhoon, Congolese Arsene “Malik” Zola, and Tunisian Yassine Khenissi have been renewed.
In a friendly, Al-Arabi defeated Al-Tadamoon 2-1, with goals from Julian Ngui and Christopher John. Portuguese coach Marco Alves utilized the match to give young players significant playing time, evaluating their readiness ahead of the league opener against Al-Shabab on Friday.
Al-Arabi midfielder Husain Ashkanani suffered a torn ACL and is scheduled for surgery this Thursday. He is expected to miss the remainder of the year if his recovery goes as planned.
Kazma is set to welcome back Beninese professional Samson Akinola, who missed the team’s training camp in Turkey due to residency issues. He is expected to join training within the next day or two as Kazma prepares to face Al-Salmiya in Sunday’s league opener. The squad also includes Algerian Idriss Chaoubi and three Jordanians: Ali Ezaiza, Youssef Abu Jazar, and Anas Al-Awadhat.
