ISTANBUL, Sept 15: Kuwait Club’s first volleyball team has traveled to Turkey for a pre-season training camp that includes participation in a friendly tournament alongside Turkish clubs Bursa Spor and Gebze Spor, as well as Libya’s Al-Swehli.

The team arrived yesterday and will remain in Turkey until September 25 as part of preparations for the new season, which officially begins on September 26.

The delegation is led by team director Mohammed Al-Otaibi and includes assistant coach Dr. Abdullah Taleb, fitness trainer Kozak, team manager Abdulaziz Duwisan, and physiotherapist Mohammed Saleh Al-Shabi. The roster features players Abdullah Jassim, Amer Al-Saleem, Omar Al-Enezi, Hamad Al-Saqer, Ahmed Al-Hamdan, Nasser Al-Sane, Abdulaziz Najm, Khaled Bouarki, Ahmed Al-Suraheid, Nawaf Al-Sane, Abdullah Buftain, Athbi Al-Enezi, Ibrahim Safar, Abdullah Al-Muwaina, and Abdulrahman Kamel, along with Estonian professional Oliver Veno.

Brazilian coach Carlos Eduardo, recently appointed to lead the team this season, will join the team during the camp. The club has also strengthened its lineup with professionals Veno and Canadian Nicholas Hoag as it looks to defend the titles it won last season.

The domestic league will open with a preliminary round involving all clubs before splitting into Premier and First Divisions. The team finishing first in the preliminary stage will carry one win into the next phase.

In the second stage, both divisions will compete in a three-phase league format, with the title going to the team with the most victories. The international points system will be applied: a 3-0 or 3-1 win earns three points for the winner, while the loser gets none; a 3-2 result gives the winner two points and the loser one.
