KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: Handball fans are gearing up for an exciting evening as the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex hosts one of the biggest matches of the second round of the 58th Premier League season 2025-2026. At 6:30 PM today, reigning league champion Kuwait Club, fresh from a dominant win over Al-Nasr, will face First Division champions Qadsia, who are eager to recover after their opening defeat. Earlier, at 5:00 PM, Al-Arabi will clash with Al-Nasr in a battle for their first points of the season.
Tomorrow’s fixtures continue with Salmiya facing Burgan at 5:00 PM, followed by Kazma taking on Al-Sulaibikhat at 6:30 PM.
The Kuwait Club-Qadsia matchup is the day’s highlight, given the teams’ historic rivalry and competitive edge. Last season, the teams met twice: Qadsia narrowly won 25-24 in the Integration League, while Kuwait Club claimed victory in the Federation Cup final after a fierce contest. They have not faced each other in the Premier League since Qadsia’s promotion back to the top division.
Kuwait Club, coached by Algerian veteran Said Hijazi, features star foreign players Francis (Qatar), Vladan (Montenegro), and Victor Ituriza (Portugal), alongside local talents including Abdullah Al-Khamis, Ali and Hassan Safar, Saleh Al-Mousawi, Mohammed Amer, Mishari Siwan, and Yaqoub Asiri. The team trained intensively over the summer in Bosnia.
Qadsia, led by Tunisian coach Amen Al-Qafsi, fields foreign players Rayan Zrayat, Jihad Arrar, and Karati Nadim Hadzic, complemented by local stars Nasser Boukhadra, Nawaf Al-Shammari, Ahmed Al-Farhan, Abdulaziz Salmeen, and Mubarak Al-Khaldi. Their preparation focused on domestic training.
Expect a high-intensity clash as Kuwait Club looks to extend its winning streak and defend its title—won for 15 consecutive seasons—while Qadsia aims to bounce back and stay in contention for the top spots.
