KUWAIT CITY, May 21: With just seven matches remaining in the 2024-2025 Premier Handball League season—two rounds in the second division and five in the third—the battle for the title has officially come down to Kuwait and Burgan.
The third round of second-division fixtures concluded at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Kuwait Club dominated Al-Arabi with a commanding 36-22 victory, while Burgan edged past Kazma 33-28. In a tightly contested matchup, Sulaibikhat secured its second league win by narrowly defeating Salmiya 31-30.
Kuwait Club continues to top the standings with 42 points, followed by Burgan in second with 35 points. Kazma sits in third place with 28 points, trailed by Salmiya (21), Sulaibikhat (20), and Al-Arabi (18).
With Kazma mathematically eliminated from title contention—even if they win all remaining games and match Kuwait’s point total—goal difference gives a massive advantage to the Kaifan-based leaders, who boast a +277 goal difference compared to Kazma’s +72.
Kuwait Club needs just three wins from its remaining seven fixtures to officially clinch its 15th league title—and 13th consecutive crown. For Burgan to pull off an upset and capture its first-ever league title, it must defeat Kuwait Club in their direct encounter next Sunday and hope Kuwait Club loses at least two additional matches.
Today’s Fixtures – Second Division, Round 4 (Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex):
4:30 pm: Al-Arabi vs. Salmiya
6:00 pm: Kuwait vs. Kazma
